Welcome to Ratchet & Clank's Travel Guide

Glitching, OOB's and Off Map Adventures!

In this blog, I'll share screenshots, videos and tips for exploring out of bounds areas of the Ratchet & Clank universe. Out of bounds exploring is a big part of what hardcore Ratchet and Clank fans love about this series. (That and the Sheepinator.)

Glitching: "an activity in which a person finds and exploits flaws or glitches in video games to achieve something that was not intended by the game designers. Gamers who engage in this practice are known as glitchers. Glitches can help or disable the player." (from Wikipedia.)

Out of Bounds (OOB) or "Off Map": The "Out of Bounds" (OOB) area is any area outside of the intended play area of the map. (from SoureRuns)

Gamers debate whether these glitches are intentional Easter eggs for fans, or just the result of reusing the same game engine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_engine). Regardless, there is only so much time and money to spend on hunting down potential glitches. That might explain why some glitches never get fixed. So far, Insomniac Games insist they do everything they can to prevent glitching. In fact, they denied placing Teddy Bears in their games to reward glitchers.

A likely story . . .

When you find a Ratchet t-pose form on the shore of an OOB island on Pokitaru, you can't help thinking you're meant to find it.

Well maybe not so much off the grid as above it.

See the world - but watch out for Blarg mercenaries.

Sun, surf and carnivorous fish!
